The Choir of St James’ King Street will announce its 2014 concert season SONG LINES this Sunday.

Coinciding with the final Orchestral Mass for the year, the ‘big reveal’ will contain news of concerts, repertoire, soloists and special privileges for the Friends of Music at St James’.  Conducted and directed by Warren Trevelyan -Jones the choir comprises around a dozen professional singers who sing in the services at St James’ Church, as well as perform their own non-liturgical concert series with varying soloists and accompaniments which have included full orchestra and organ. Soloists in the past have included mezzo-soprano Sally-Anne Russell, soprano Greta Bradman and a capella ensemble The Idea of North.

The centrepiece of the Orchestral Mass this Sunday is Haydn’s Creation Mass (Mass No. 13 in B flat), a joyful piece which is legitimately sung in either English or German. Music during the rest of the service includes the Symphony No. 5 (1st movement) by Boycethe mighty anthem I was glad by Hubert Parry, i thank you God by Eric Whitacre and the  Organ Concerto No. 2 (1st movement) by Rheinberger.

Full details of the 2014 series will be available at the service, and will be posted on www.fom.org.au from early next week.
