The Idea Of North At St James’ King Street

When:  On 01-Jun-13, at 5 pm
Where:  St James' Church, King Street, Sydney

Sally Cameron. Andrew Piper, Naomi Crellin and Nick Begbie - The Idea of North

A capella quartet The Idea of North presents Sweet Music as part of St James’ King Street  Metamorphosis concert series for 2013.  The double ARIA Award winning ensemble celebrates 20 years of singing together this year and so they will be presenting some of their best loved songs at this special event.

Resonating in the luxurious acoustic of historic St James’ Church, these unaccompanied voices will create some special sounds with the natural reverberations and millisecond time delays that the venue offers to vocalists. They’ll perform music by Sinead O’Connor, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell and others. As well, ‘TION’ will be joined by the Choir of St James’ for a couple of numbers.

Along with their impeccable sound, The Idea of North’s presentations are lighthearted and full of fun. Soprano Sally Cameron, alto Naomi Crellin, tenor Nick Begbie and bass Andrew Piper have built a substantial repertoire of unaccompanied music with a vocal percussion thrown in. Their distinct sound and style crosses many musical genres: jazz, folk, gospel, pop and comedy. They have nine albums in the catalogue and a significant local and international fan base with several overseas tours to their name.
