Opening on April 12, selected cinemas in Sydney and NSW have a special treat Live in HD from The Met.
Prodigious tenor Jonas Kaufman and mezzo-soprano Sophie Koch, appear together as Werther and Charlotte for the first time at the Met in the eponymous opera, Jules Massenet’s adaptation of Goethe’s revolutionary and tragic romance.
Conducted by rising Maestro Alain Altinoglu, it is narrated by Patricia Racette who performed as Madama Butterfly for Opera Australia in Sydney recently and is directed and designed by Richard Eyre and Rob Howell, the same team that created the Met’s recent hit production of Carmen. Also featured is Australian baritone Jonathan Summers who sings the role of the Bailiff.
