Simone Young talks Wagner
There is an an exceptional opportunity this weekend to hear Simone Young talk about Wagner when the Wagner Society of NSW presents their patron and renowned conductor in conversation with Francis Merson, editor of Limelight Magazine, moderated by President of the society, Jane Mathews
Prior to this is a screening of Act 2 of Tannhäuser, with Stig Andersen in the title role.
The society is expecting a capacity crowd and they suggest an early arrival to secure a good seat.
Simone Young conducted a performance of The Ring Cycle at the Hamburg opera last year. Last month she conducted the Australian Youth Orchestra with soloist Lisa Gasteen in Brisbane.
She is now in Sydney to conduct Wagner under the Sails, a recreation of the all-Wagner opening concert at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall in 1973, with soprano Christine Brewer.
