Smiles And Crabb In Concert
Trinity Grammar School’s Society of the Arts proudly presents an evening of music-making with classical accordionist James Crabb.
James will be joined for this concert by Australia Ensemble cellist Julian Smiles, in a programme of solo and chamber music including Piazzolla’s Tres Tangos, Sofia Gubaidulina’s De Profundis and JS Bach’s Sonata no. 3 in G Minor, along with music by Ravel, Bloch and contemporary composer John Zorn will also be performed.
Scottish-born, Sydney-based musician James Crabb is one of the world’s leading exponents of the classical accordion. His repertoire ranges from original contemporary works to transcriptions from Baroque through to the 21st Century, Tango Nuevo and folk music.
Julian Smiles is well-known as former principal cellist with the ACO, a founding member of the Goldner String Quartet and a member since 1991 of the Australia Ensemble.
