Strike A Chord Finals Livestream

Musica Viva will partner with Melbourne Digital Concert Hall for the free livestream of Strike A Chord – the National Chamber Music Championship Final broadcast from up to 5 centres across Australia in one event.

Secondary aged chamber ensembles of 3-8 players and singers nationally completed for 12 final spots which will be announced on September 3 to perform at the grand final, hosted by ABC Classic presenter Ed Ayres,

Judges will view the grand final in real time and announce winners during the live stream, with audiences at home able to have their say in an online vote. Under the auspices of Strike A Chord these young musicians will be making their debut to Melbourne Digital Concert Hall’s global community of thousands.

Since launching on 27 March 2020, Melbourne Digital Concert Hall has broadcast over 140 concerts around Australia, and abroad, reaching a global ticket buying audience of over 10 000 people. Created by musicians for musicians, MDCH was developed as a solution for Australian artists to continue their profession during COVID-19, by delivering high-quality live concerts to audiences in the comfort of their homes.

Strike A Chord is a new initiative developed by Musica Viva Australia for its 75th anniversary in 2020, with support from Creative Victoria and presented in partnership with Melbourne Recital Centre and the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM).

This partnership will also enable the additional round, Lockdown Legends, to be broadcast from the Primrose Potter Salon, in the Melbourne Recital Centre on 6 December, 2020. Created by Musica Viva to allow all students affected by Term 3 COVID-19 restrictions to participate, Lockdown Legends will be open to groups from Victoria, as well as vocal, brass and wind ensembles who have been affected by changes in legislation in NSW. Groups must not have submitted an entry to the main Strike A Chord championship on or before 27 August 2020.
