The husband-wife team of Australians Richard Bonynge and Joan Sutherland, forged enormous global careers and were exclusive artists for Decca. This year marks not only the 90th birthday of conductor Richard Bonynge but also the 10th anniversary of the passing of soprano Dame Joan Sutherland. Before she died, Dame Joan Sutherland, at the special request of Universal Music Australia, compiled a list of her favourite recordings, published as Joan Sutherland – My Favourites.
In 2021, Chalet Monet, by Richard Bonynge, will be published. A sumptuous coffee-table book, it captures the essence of the fairy tale that is Chalet Monet, the home of the Bonynges. Inside the 344 pages, over 1000 photographs bring to life the lavish home of the greatest international cultural icons in opera, Dame Joan Sutherland and her husband, Maestro Richard Bonynge.
