Sydney Antiphony Performs Memoriae
Sydney Antiphony will present its first concert for 2016 entitled MEMORIAE, a selection of Lenten music which explores continuity, change and new beginnings in a series of works spanning over 600 years.
From the Medieval three-part chansons of Machaut, to the genius Franco-Flemish polyphony of Ockeghem, Josquin and Richafort, to the Romantic inclinations of Poulenc and Takemitsu, this music is full of rich colours and texture, resulting in a heart-breaking contemplation of loss and the passage of time.
Sydney Antiphony is passionate about championing new Australian music, and young Australian composer Chris Williams’ brilliant work Of Dust features here as well.
Sydney Antiphony comprises eight of Sydney’s finest ensemble singers from diverse backgrounds. Working without a conductor, the singers collaborate as chamber musicians in forging a fresh and unique approach to diverse styles of music, ranging from the early renaissance to the present day.
Tickets: $20/$10.
