Sydney International Piano Competition Winner Andrey Gugnin In Recital
As the Sydney International Piano Competition celebrates it 40th anniversary, Andrey Gugnin, the winner of the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition is two weeks into his national recital tour.
Gugnin’s single performance in Sydney features music by Bach, Schubert and Stravinsky along with new works Reminiscences of the Theatre (1985) by contemporary Russian composer Leonid Desyatnikov and Kieran Harvey’s 48 Fugues for Frank Zappa No.6: G-Spot Tornado (2009).
Gugnin undertook his piano studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He is a multi-award winner of piano competitions around the world, a busy performer and recording artist. In 2018 he will be recording on the Hyperion label.
In Sydney, Andrey Gugnin will perform on a Fazioli piano.
