Sydney Youth Orchestras rehearses weekly with over 550 young musicians aged 6-24 years from all over Sydney and New South Wales. The leading orchestral training and education provider in New South Wales, it was founded as a single orchestra in 1973 by the visionary music educator and conductor, Peter Seymour. For almost half a century SYO has grown to become a community of over 550 young musicians, aged 6-24, from all over Sydney and New South Wales. Rehearsals take place in inner suburban Sydney and Western Sydney, in 13 different ensembles carefully constructed to match skill, age and experience.
