Sydney Youth Orchestras Perform The Masterworks
Sydney Youth Orchestras The Masterworks programme, conducted by Alexander Briger AO, features Brahms Symphony No. 4, Op. 98 and Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 with Italian soloist Umberto Clerici, Principal Cello for the Sydney Symphony, Cello Lecturer at the Sydney Conservatorium and the Salzburg Mozarteum University.
Dvorak’s Cello Concerto is one of the most celebrated and recorded concertos of all time. An instant success following its premiere, it is loved by audiences and musicians alike, with virtuosic solos for the cello and sweeping sections for the whole orchestra. Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No 4 contains some of the deepest and darkest music of the 19th century. This concert would test the emotional and expressive dexterity of any professional seasoned orchestra and the emerging musicians of the SYO will meet the challenge with aplomb.
