‘Tales of Two Cities’ from the Sydney Chamber Choir and the Adelaide Chamber Singers
The Sydney Chamber Choir and Adelaide Chamber Singers reprise their successful 2012 collaboration to perform two famous works for forty voices – Thomas Tallis’ monumental Spem in alium and Gabriel Jackson’s companion piece Sanctum est Lumen Verum. Jackson’s work has been described in Gramophone magazine as an ‘astonishing tour de force in which the strands of musical texture cascade with glorious luminosity’.
Conducted by the Sydney Chamber Choir’s Musical Director Paul Stanhope and the Adelaide Chamber Singers Artistic Director & Conductor, Carl Crossin, the program also celebrates the centenary of Benjamin Britten with performances of the sublime Hymn to St Cecilia and selections from Ad majorem Dei gloriam. Music by the exciting young Australian composer Joseph Twist will also feature alongside a new work by Sydney Chamber Choir’s musical director and APRA Award-winner Paul Stanhope.
