The metropolitan chamber orchestra presents Vivaldi, Beethoven and its 2012 season.

The Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra plays in the inner – west this weekend with two performances of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Beethoven’s Symphony No 4. Manu Berkeljon, past concert- master of the MCO will feature as the soloist in the Vivaldi.

Beethoven’s started writing his  Symphony No 4 after he started writing the Symphony No 5, which he put aside to fulfil a commission from the Silesian Count, Franz von Oppersdorff, who requested a symphony in the style of the Symphony No 2. It’s premiere must have been quite an occasion, because it was performed alongside the premieres of the Coriolanus Overture and the Piano Concerto No 4.

On Saturday, as a preamble to the concert, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Sarah-Grace Williams will introduce the MCO’s 2012 season with details of soloists and a surprise new additional venue. Brochures for 2012 will be available and the concert will be followed by a champagne reception.
