The Metropolitan Orchestra: Beauty
The Metropolitan Orchestra’s first concert for this year, Beauty, is just over four weeks away. Under Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams, TMO will present a thought-provoking evening, with three vastly different, yet related works to inspire.
Revealing the beauty of three highly different worlds in both time and place, The concert starts in a land immersed in ancient Finnish mythology created by Sibelius, then moves to the beautiful and desolate Australian outback in a world premiere Australian orchestral song cycle titled ‘Beauty’ featuring baritone Graham Sattler and saxophonist Stephen O’Connell, before arriving in the ‘New World’ with Dvorak’s iconic ninth symphony.
The programme:
SIBELIUS Swan of Tuonela/ SOQ Beauty World Premiere/ DVORAK Symphony no. 9
Performers: Conductor: Sarah-Grace Williams/ Soloists: SOQ (Graham Sattler – Baritone, Stephen O’Connell – Saxophone)
