Next year, Opera Australia presents King Roger by the Polish composer Karol Szymanowski (1882 – 1937).
Get the story behind this rarely performed opera when the Sydney Opera Society presents a talk by Dr David Schwartz on this 20th century masterpiece.
Opera Australia’s presentation in January 2017, is a co-production from the Royal Opera Covent Garden, directed by Kasper Holten. In Sydney, Andrea Molino will conduct a cast which includes Lorina Gore, James Egglestone, Dominica Matthews, David Parkin, Michael Honeyman and Albanian tenor Saimir Pirgu.
The talk will be preceeded at 1 pm by the society’s AGM which is critical to the future of the society which has experienced falling attendance and a loss of funds.
