The Sydney International Piano Competition Creates A Contest For Amateur Pianists
Amateur pianists here’s your chance to test your skills. The Sydney International Piano Lovers’ Competition is calling for amateur pianists to enter their contest.
Video your pieces and send in your entry to The Sydney Piano Lovers’ Competition. Entries close at 5pm AEDT on Friday 13 November. Pianists should be aged 30 or over and not earning your main income from teaching the piano or professional performance. If you would like a creative challenge, make a video for the public to enjoy and to receive feedback from the international jury of professional musicians, then click here for more.
The Sydney’s Artistic Director Piers Lane AO said: “Amateur pianists of all levels should enter. You don’t have to perform a Rachmaninoff sonata (though you may if you wish): what we’ll be looking for is a mature understanding and delivery of whatever music is chosen.”
The winner will be invited to play in The Sydney 2021 and receive further professional feedback from the international jury, comprising Piers Lane AO (Artistic Director of The Sydney) Australia, Kathron Sturrock (Royal College of Music, London) UK and Nikos Stavlas (Morley College and City Lit. London) Greece.
