Tognetti plays old and new violins with the ACO in a programme of Mozart, Haydn and Dean

Old and new violins are the stars of the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s opening 2013  concerts in Sydney. Richard Tognetti plays his treasured 270-year-old Guarneri del Gesù violin as soloist in his favourite Mozart Violin Concerto (No.3) and leads the Australian Chamber Orchestra in symphonies by Mozart and Haydn.

Australian composer Brett Dean joins the orchestra to conduct his new electric violin concerto, written specially for Richard. Mozart’s Symphony No.25 is the dramatic opening music in the Academy Award winning film Amadeus, inspired by Haydn’s thrilling Sturm und Drang symphonies, such as No.49, both of which are performed in this program.
