Wagner Society Of New South Wales Examines Tristan und Isolde
The Wagner Society of New South Wales presents a two-part series Tristan und Isolde – An Unresolved Enigma, with guest speaker Dr David Larkin, lecturer in Musicology at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Performing this afternoon are Emilie Lemasson, dramatic soprano, Christopher Curcuruto, baritone and pianist Bradley Gilchrist.
Dr Larkin is a specialist in German music of the nineteenth century. His research interests include program music, compositional influence, music aesthetics, and the reception of ‘progressive’ composers, with particular focus on Franz Liszt, Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss.
Performing this afternoon are Emilie Lemasson, dramatic soprano, Christopher Curcuruto, baritone and pianist Bradley Gilchrist.
Emilie Lemasson studied voice and piano from an early age. She holds a Diploma of Opera and has received a number of prizes. Since 2012, she has been the principal soloist for Vavachi and performs with them in Queensland and Victoria as well as with Resonance.
Christopher Curcuruto’s primary interests are in musical theatre and opera. He worked at Felt Tip Theatre Company in Armidale. After receiving tuition vocal tuition from Armidale musicians, he has now moved to WAAPA for further study.
Bradley Gilchrist has worked as ballet repetiteur in Korea and as accompanist and coach at the Accademia Europea di Firenze. He continues to work as opera repetiteur for several Australian opera companies.
