orchestra seventeen88 directed by violinist Rachael Beesley presents a programme of music by Haydn, Mozart, Stamitz and other classical pioneers for its first Winter Festival in August.
This first Winter Festival is orchestra seventeen88’s foray into this exciting and new journey of music-making in Australia, offering performances by some of Australia’s leading historical instrument specialists. It will be held in the beautiful acoustic of the chapel at Santa Sabina College in Strathfield.
The festival program includes chamber music by Von Winter, a presentation by Richard Gill OAM, Artistic Director of the ensemble and an orchestral concert of concertos, symphonies and serenades followed by a reception with the musicians and a complimentary glass of Molly’s Cradle wine. The concertos will feature soloists Rachael Beesley and clarinetist Nicole van Bruggen recently returned from over 17 years of performing in Holland.
The orchestra aims to enlighten and inspire classical music lovers and introduce HIP (Historically Informed Performance) to new audiences throughout Australia. It is the orchestra’s desire to explore new and exciting venues in Sydney and expand into the other states of Australia, allowing audiences beyond the CBD to enjoy world-class performances.
