The Latin Muse – Popular Hispanic Composers On A New Release From Move Records
The Latin Muse, a new album release on the Move label, presents some of the best-known works of five Hispanic composers: Piazzolla, Granados, de Falla, Albeniz and Ginastera, performed by pianist Nancy Tsou.
The album, available on multiple platforms includes three of Piazzolla’s most popular works, Oblivion, Milonga de Angel and Libertango. Tsou also presents the premier recording of the virtuosic piano arrangement of Milonga de Angel by Zunini and Cosentino, arrangements well received by Piazzolla himself.
Nancy Tsou spent the early years of her childhood growing up in Argentina, starting her first piano lessons in Buenos Aires, at age 5, absorbing the ubiquitous Latin music, its wonderful colours, and its free and vibrant spirit. She established a deep and sympathetic connection to the Latin culture and music.
Nancy Tsou’s story is a multi-cultural one. She is of Chinese extradition, raised in the Argentine and settled in Australia. The Latin Muse, her second release on the Move label, showcases the music of her childhood home. In Australia, Nancy has taught at the Universities of Melbourne and Wollongong and at Monash University; she has toured Australia, China, and the USA as a recitalist and lecturer.
